THOMAS E. DANSON, JR., is Founder and Chairman of Beacon-National Insurance Associates, Inc. Over his 40-plus years in the insurance industry, Mr. Danson has held executive positions with state and regional insurance entities and been recognized for his contributions to the industry. Mr. Danson also has 19 years of experience as a local agency owner. He is well versed in retail and wholesale insurance products, risk management, agency management, sales and underwriting, and governmental processes and regulations. In addition to his insurance industry activities, Mr. Danson served four terms in the Florida House of Representatives. He earned a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida.
JOHN B. CUNNINGHAM, CPCU, CIC is Vice President and a member of the Board of Directors of Beacon-National Insurance Associates, Inc. In a career that spans three decades, Mr. Cunningham has held executive insurance positions in Florida, New York, and Pennsylvania. He is accomplished in property and casualty insurance, with a particular emphasis on program business development, producer relations, and marketing. Mr. Cunningham has earned the professional designations and certifications of Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and Certified Insurance Consultant (CIC). He earned a Bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York College at Buffalo and an MBA from Canisius College in Buffalo.
ROBERT E. McMANUS, CPCU, ARM, is Vice President and a member of the Board of Directors of Beacon-National Insurance Associates, Inc. Mr. McManus has an extensive insurance career spanning 35 years, with a concentration on Underwriting, Marketing, and Loss Control. Prior to associating with Beacon-National, he was an Executive Vice President with FCCI Insurance Group in Sarasota, Florida, where he was responsible for Underwriting, Marketing, Reinsurance, Loss Control, Product Development and Rehabilitation Nursing. In 1989, Mr. McManus founded the Sun Coast (Florida) Chapter of the American Society of Safety Engineers. Mr. McManus has earned the professional designations and certifications of Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and Associate in Risk Management. He holds a Bachelor's of Science degree from the State University of New York, College at Oswego, and has done graduate work at Syracuse University.
RAY NEFF, MAAA, ASA, FLMI is Vice President and a member of the Board of Director at Beacon-National Insurance Associates, Inc., has significant executive experience in both the public and private insurance sectors. For the past 10 years, he has been the founding principal of Neff & Associates Insurance Consulting, Inc., & Insurance Home Office Services, LLC. The companies, based in Sarasota, Florida, provide counsel and expertise to insurance entities nationwide on issues relating to governance, finance, reinsurance, and executive management. From 1986 to 1998, he served as President and CEO of FCCI Insurance Group in Sarasota, Florida. Under his watch, the company gained super-regional status, moving from a mono-line mutual to an insurance holding company with several certificates of authority and infrastructure.
In the public sector, Mr. Neff was the Division Director, Department of Labor and Employment Security, Division of Workers’ Compensation, for the state of Florida. He also was Bureau Chief for the Florida Department of Insurance Bureau of Rates.
Mr. Neff is a member of the American Academy of Actuaries, Associate Society of Actuaries, and the Fellow Life Office Management Institute. He has served on the Florida Joint Underwriting Association Board, the Florida Self-Insurance Fund Guaranty Association Board, the Florida Workers’ Compensation Oversight Board, and the Florida Workers’ Compensation Joint Underwriting Association.
Mr. Neff earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Mathematics and Accounting from Central Michigan University and a Master’s of Arts degree in Actuarial Science from the University of Michigan.
